This reverse cross fuses elite preservationist genetics with a strong NL5 and Durban backbone, delivering a wide spectrum of complex, pungent phenotypes that fully earn the “Chocolate Skunk” name. Expect everything from indulgent cocoa-coffee layers to bold, old-school burnt rubber, gas, chemical, diesel, and spicy cinnamon expressions ~ true to the Durban and Skunk heritage in the lineage. Not every plant is a dessert bomb, but many are elite keepers in their own right.

Rare THC-V Expression
This line offers a realistic 10–20% chance of elevated THC-V (tetrahydrocannabivarin, 0.8–3.8% in expressing plants, peaking late in flower ~ lab test after day 50+). THC-V is uncommon in modern Kush/OG hybrids because most breeding chased maximum THC, but it reliably surfaces here from the Durban Poison (25%) and potentially SS (25%) sides. Old-school Durban cuts historically tested 1–4% THC-V before everything was bred for max THC. The Beerus father (OG/Kush/Skunk backbone) is largely THC-V null, so only strong Durban-leaning plants express it.

THC-V delivers a clearer, faster-onset, energetic/"speedy" high with potential appetite suppression. Total THC often runs 18–22% in these phenos (slightly lower than non-THC-V plants).

Spotting THC-V plants in grow: Thinner, more serrated fan leaves (classic Durban trait), faster/energetic response when sampled early, lower bud density but insane frost and intense aroma.

Phenotypes & Keepers (based on tester + real grower smoke reports)

  • Chocolate Durban (#1 – 8–12%): Dark/hot chocolate or cocoa-coffee nose with a clean, focused, stimulant-like edge from THC-V. Top expressions earn the “African hot-chocolate rocket” label.
  • Pure Durban leaner (#4 – 5–8%): Highest THC-V potential. Spicy, herbal, gas, burnt rubber, chemical, or diesel terps paired with cinnamon/clove spice and energetic, appetite-suppressant effects. These pungent Durban/Skunk keepers are highly valued for their bold, old-school complexity and functional high.
  • Midnight Cocoa Kush (#5 – 3–5%): Rare “night-time chocolate” that stays clear-headed and medical rather than heavily sedative.
  • Majority expressions (~80%+): OG Lemon Cookie or Skunky Old Lady types — earthy/skunky, spicy (cinnamon/clove), fuel, or rubbery/gas profiles that can layer with subtle sweet undertones. Many of these are solid, pungent keepers, especially strong Durban/Skunk expressions.

Aroma & Flavor (Highly Variable – Real Reports)
The ~11–12% Skunk lineage brings classic pungent pungency (often sharp on the exhale), while the Durban mother adds spicy, herbal, and sometimes rubbery/gas notes. Smoke reports commonly include:

  • Hot/dark chocolate or cocoa-coffee with a skunky edge (chocolate-leaning keepers)
  • Burnt rubber, gas, chemical, or diesel paired with cinnamon/spice (frequent in Durban/Skunk-leaning plants ~ bold, memorable, and authentic to old-school Skunk heritage)

Effects
Pheno-dependent: Durban/THC-V expressers (including the rubber/spicy keepers) lean uplifting, clear, focused, and energetic with a “rocket” quality. Skunky/OG-leaning plants offer more balanced relaxation. Excellent for daytime functionality in clearer cuts or evening unwind in heavier ones. Not every plant delivers heavy indica sedation.

Grow Notes
Vigorous hybrid with possible stretch in sativa-leaning phenos. Flower 8–10+ weeks (68–75 days recommended for full terp and THC-V development). Excellent frost production and strong color response to cooler temps. This is a true pheno-hunter line

Why “Chocolate Skunk”?
The name honors both the indulgent chocolate/coffee potential from the Oreo/Durban mother and the real skunky, pungent, gas/rubbery reality from the Beerus father. Not every seed is a pure dessert bomb ~ many deliver the spicy, burnt-rubber, cinnamon, or fuel-forward smoke that longtime Chocolate Skunk fans recognize as elite, complex, and true to the lineage. The rubber/gas Durban leaners are legitimate keepers for their energetic effects, unique terps, and preservationist character.
